When Can I Spay My Cat?

Q: “My cat just had kittens. How soon can she be spayed?”
A: Technically, she could be spayed now if she is healthy. However, it’s usually becomest to wait until the kittens are weaned at 6-8 weeks post birth. Some females can become pregnant very quickly after birth, so don’t wait too long. Check with your veterinarian and make an appointment for the spay.
